Essential Treatment Information

  • Polynucleotides are purified DNA fragments—commonly derived from salmon—designed to stimulate the skin’s natural regeneration processes. Research shows that they can improve skin texture, reduce wrinkle depth, enhance elasticity, and support tissue healing.

Unlike dermal fillers, polynucleotides do not add volume. Instead, they encourage the skin to restore itself at a cellular level by activating fibroblasts, increasing collagen production, and improving hydration.

    • Polynucleotides are suitable for patients wanting to address:

    • Fine lines and wrinkles

    • Loss of elasticity

    • Dull, dehydrated, or crepey skin

    • Early signs of ageing

    • Sun damage and oxidative stress

    • Thin, fragile under‑eye skin and dark circles

    • Acne Scarring

  • 1. Improved Skin Hydration & Radiance

PNs bind water and boost hydration, helping soften fine lines and promote a youthful glow.

    2. Enhanced Collagen & Elastin Production

Polynucleotides stimulate fibroblast activity, supporting collagen, elastin and extracellular matrix repair for firmer, more resilient skin.

    3. Tissue Repair & Anti‑Inflammatory Effects

PNs promote healing, reduce inflammation, and improve skin integrity—making them ideal after procedures or for compromised skin.

    4. Natural‑Looking Results

Because the treatment enhances your own cellular activity rather than adding volume, results appear soft, subtle, and naturally refreshed.

    • A typical course involves:

    • 3–4 sessions

    • Every 2–4 weeks, depending on the treatment area

    • Maintenance every 6–12 months

    • Results are gradual and cumulative as collagen and cellular repair improve over time.

    • Pregnancy or breastfeeding

    • Active infection on the face

    • Any dental work within 2 weeks of treatment

    • Long haul flight within 7 – 10 days after treatment

    • Covid Vaccination within 2 weeks of treatment

    • If you have had Covid you must wait 2 weeks after receiving a negative test, before we are able to treat you for dermal filler

    • Previous hypertrophic scarring – keloid

    • Laser or deep chemical peels within 3 weeks of treatment

    • Some rheumatological disorders

    • Had botulinum toxin treatment to crow’s feet in last 4 weeks – please inform your Cosmetic Medicine Practitioner

  • Full-face Polynucleotides: $650 per treatment, approximately 60 minutes.

Consultation with a cosmetic nurse: $50, redeemable towards any treatment or product within one month.

    • No skin test is required prior to treatment. A full medical history will be taken prior to treatment, and you will have an opportunity to discuss the treatment in full with your Cosmetic Medicine Practitioner. You will need to complete a consent form before treatment.

  • Severe or increasing redness / pain / swelling must be reported to your Cosmetic Medicine Practitioner immediately.

DO’S AND DON’TS TO KEEP IN MIND FOR THE FIRST 24 HOURS AFTER TREATMENT

You may use a gentle cold compress to soothe treated areas and to minimise swelling.

TRY to keep the areas free from cosmetics – use only oil-free or water-based makeup

RELAX and take it easy – you deserve it

DO NOT expose your skin to prolonged sun

DO NOT immerse yourself in a hot spa/sauna or engage in vigorous exercise/aerobics

DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL, especially red wine, for 24 hours as it may increase bruising

We hope you will be delighted with the outcome of your treatment.

If for any reason you are concerned about the possibility of a serious adverse reaction, please phone Clinic 4O2 on 0508 402 402

  • The common injection related side effects are localized and transient, and may include one or more of the following responses:

    Swelling / redness / bruising / pain / tenderness / itching

Rare side effects can occur, and these include:

Injection into a blood vessel. This may cause temporary skin discoloration and breakdown, blistering and scab formation which may result in a scar.

Very small chance of granuloma formation, which may require excision.

    Extremely rare side effects:

Cases of blindness have resulted from injection – especially when injecting the nose and between the eyes.

Mandatory REJURAN® statement

REJURAN® is a dermal tissue reconstructive material, animal-derived. REJURAN® is an injectable gel which is intended for injection into the mid to deep dermis to promote tissue restoration and reconstruction, and improvement of physical appearance. Administered by injecting the gel into the dermis using a thin gauge needle. The polynucleotide is hydrating to cause volumetric increases of tissues and make more favourable physiological conditions for the growth of cells in the skin. REJURAN® treatment is not funded on the New Zealand Pharmaceutical Schedule. You will need to pay for this medicine. Normal Doctors visit fees apply. REJURAN treatment should be administered only by trained medical professionals. Speak to your doctor about your own situation and about the benefits/risks of this procedure in appearance medicine.
